About Progressive Bloggers
Progressive Bloggers is a group of Canadian bloggers who firmly believe that this great country needs to move forward, not backwards. Be they Liberal or liberal, New Democrats or democrats, Green voters or voters who want a green country, or even Red Tories searching for a home, these bloggers believe that Canadian politics should move in a progressive direction.
On these blogs you will read about the importance of the environment, the need to preserve Canada’s social programs and its multicultural mosaic. You’ll see posts on why national unity is important and on why there are worse problems than letting two people who love each other marry.
If you have a progressive blog, be sure to join this group. If you enjoy reading progressive blogs, then you’ve come to the right place.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Progressive Bloggers?
Progressive Bloggers is an alliance of Canadian political blogs aimed to express and promote progressive ideas. Through our website, progressivebloggers.ca, we bring the left and centre-left community together in one spot to share our ideas and knowledge.
What party are you from?
We are a non-partisan group with membership from all parts of the country and all types of parties. Progressive Bloggers was conceived by a loosely knit group of Canadian bloggers and blogs, including Scott Tribe, Cherniak on Politics, Calgary Grit, TDH Strategies, Trickle Down Truth, The Muck Shoveller, Freethought.ca, and others. (If I've missed anyone, please let me know...)
Who may join?
Canadian political-themed blogs with a progressive viewpoint are welcome. Progressive Bloggers is a non-partisan group, so all progressive-themed blogs, regardless of your political affiliation, are welcome to join.
To sign up, you must first place the Progressive Bloggers list of sites on your website, or at minimum, a link to the Progressive Bloggers website. Once you have done so, sign up using the form located on the Sign Up page. Our editors will check your site to ensure that our criteria for membership has been met, and if accepted, your site will be included in our list. If you have provided an RSS or Atom feed URL, your posts will appear on our website on the next update cycle.
Why should I register as a user?
As a registered user of Progressive Bloggers, you may post entries in your User Diary, post comments, and recommend posts for other users. By recommending a post (by clicking on the Vote box next to any headline), you will help decide what we feature on the front page.
How do you determine what's on the front page?
All posts with more than a certain number of votes are eligible for inclusion on the front page. What is displayed are the 15 latest posts with sufficient vote counts. The threshold required is manually adjusted by the Progressive Bloggers staff to ensure optimal filtering.
