If Brazeau stays on as an independent Senator, he’ll cost Canadian taxpayers at lease $7-million by the time he retires approximately 37 years from today. By Obert Madondo | The Canadian Progressive, Feb. 8, 2013: Conservative Sen. Patrick Brazeau’s charges of assault and sexual assault offer Prime Minister Stephen Harper the opportunity to do the right thing concerning his much-touted READ MORE

Our Ford, the (Lord) Mayor of Toronto is rabidly right-wing. No doubt about that. After all, he recently proposed exiling Toronto’s convicted criminals, most of whom tend to be persons of color. Fellow Conservative and immigrant-bashing minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Jason Kenney, endorsed the idea. Still, I would never have imagined the Mayor of Canada’s most racially-diverse city with his beefy arm wrapped a white supremacist. Until now. Yep, that’s Our Ford in the photo below, with Jon Latvis, a member of the neo-Nazi band RAHOWA (Racial Holy War).

Canada’s federal immigration minister is way out of line here. The Calgary South East MP has posted a petition on his website – jasonkenney.ca – asking Canadians to thank him for a job well done. The petition’s exact words: “We, the undersigned, thank Jason Kenney for his efforts to streamline benefits afforded to refugees claimants under the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) and bring them in line with the benefits received by tax-paying Canadians, including new Canadians.”
How many more insults can we take from this man? Or, for that matter, from Stephen Harper?
First, Kenney authored

Since coming to power in 2006, the Canadian prime minister “has acquired a reputation for playing fast and loose with the rules.” Harper plays to his social conservative base. He and his Conservative majority government tolerate neither criticism nor dissent. But these “bullying” ways are set to boost the opposition’s popularity and lead to Harper’s downfall in 2015.
That’s the verdict by The Economist, a renowned right-loving British weekly magazine.
In an editorial, the magazine pays homage to progressive Canadians’ recent bruising fights with the government over the omnibus budget Bill C-38, nuking of environmental reviews for Big

The minister responsible for the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) has resigned from both Stephen Harper’s cabinet and her elected position as Conservative MP for the Ontario riding of Durham. The controversy-plagued Oda announced her resignation this morning without giving a clear explanation.
No doubt, the resignation is a bitter pre-emptive strike against Harper’s imminent cabinet reshuffle. She was a strong candidate for the boot. Since 2007, Oda has hopped from one public firestorm to another, especially over her spending habits. And politicization of CIDA funding decisions.
While attending an international donors’ conference in London last year, Oda

The governing body of the House of Commons continues to fail Canadians on the important questions of transparency and oversight. In his recent report, Michael Ferguson, the Auditor General of Canada, called for more transparency.
But board has “further limited public transparency over its secret meetings and decisions.” It meets in camera. Parliamentary code phrase for “secret”.
The Board of Internal Economy “makes decisions and provides direction on financial and administrative policies of the House.” It’s responsible for ”establishing by-laws, policies and guidelines relating to expenditures and resources provided to Members in order to carry out their parliamentary functions.”

Meet Patrick Brazeau (pictured), the sexist Canadian senator who called Ottawa-based reporter, Jennifer Ditchburn, a bitch yesterday. Her crime: she’d done her job by highlighting his poor attendance record in Canada’s appointed upper house of Parliament. He immediately issued a “reluctant” apology.
Why did Brazeau call the reporter a bitch? She was just doing her job. Is it because he’s an ex-soldier? He served in the Canadian Armed Forces. Is it because he’s a 2nd degree black belt in Karate. Is it..?
Let’s get to know a little more about Brazeau, the Conservative senator Prime Minister Stephen Harper appointed in
