Canada, once an internationally respected nation that excelled at peace keeping and demonstrated to the world that solid environmental stewardship and a kinder, gentler approach to governance was both possible and achievable.

National Omnibus reveals that Canadians still blame women for being sexually assaulted
TORONTO, July 9, 2013 – With summer in full swing, Canadians have packed away their sweaters and are enjoying drinks on the patio. However, according to a new survey* conducted by the Canadian Women’s Foundation, many Canadians believe that women need to be careful about what they wear and how much alcohol they consume – 19 per cent of the respondents believe that women may provoke or encourage sexual assault when they are drunk. An Alberta businessman is included in a massive online database of secret tax-haven names released to the public on Friday by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. David Ghermezian, the president of the West Edmonton Mall, is linked to a British Virgin Islands-registered company called Regal Mega Malls Development Corp, the CBC News reports.
Ghermezian’s inclusion on this list got me thinking about the pro-business Harper Conservatives and their undisguised determination to coddle tax havens and tax cheats.

A new Globe and Mail investigative report reveals that: Doug Ford, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford’s brother, sold hashish for several years in the 1980s.
