All Candidates seeking office to be the next MLA for the Cowichan Constituency have publicly opposed the dumping of contaminated soil in the Shawnigan Watershed.

Both Bill Routley NDP MLA and Damar Wallener Conservative Candidate had written statements regarding the threat to the Shawnigan watershed. In a rare show of non partisan solidarity both statements were agreed upon and signed by all four candidates.

The BC Liberal Government has issued a Draft Permit that would allow contaminated and toxic soils to be dumped in the Shawnigan Watershed.

Georgia Collins from the Shawnigan Basin Society and Shawnigan Watershed Roundtable has emailed a notice about a meeting that they have organized. It would be a good idea to attend.

There is a Public Meeting at the Shawnigan Lake Community Centre this Monday at 7 pm to discuss the SIA permit to dump contaminated soils in your watershed.
