SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 26 AT 1PM PLACE EMILIE GAMELIN
This Saturday, the fascist scum from PEGIDA are going to try for a second time to march in the streets of Montreal to promote their xenophobic and racist ideas. (https://www.facebook.com/events/1484657618497883/).
There is reason to believe that PEGIDA will join the Silent March Against Bill 59 which is happening Saturday at 2pm (https://www.facebook.com/events/412949548901522/).
The RSM-Montreal invited everyone who is concerned by the rise of racism and Islamophobia to meet at 1pm at Place Emilie-Gamelin, the starting point of the Silent March. Let’s take this opportunity to show (Read more…)
Joel is an antifascist prisoner in Sweden. In July 2014, he was sentenced to five and a half years in prison for attempted murder, violent disorder, and carrying an illegal weapon. The sentence followed a collective defense against a Nazi attack on an antifascist demonstration in Stockholm. The interview was conducted in the fall of 2014. Explanatory notes have been added.
You were sentenced in connection with an antifascist demonstration in Kärrtorp, a suburb of Stockholm, in December 2013. Can you tell us about that day?
During the weeks before the demonstration, there had been trouble in Kärrtorp and the (Read more…)
April 25 was Liberation Day in Italy, a national holiday commemorating the end of the Nazi/Fascist occupation of Italy. The above photo portrays the Italian Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini and his entourage, hanging upside down after being executed by Italians who were fed up with their bullshit.
Predictably, as the failed capitalist system continues to collapse around the world, the dark forces of fascism and quasi-fascism are again rearing their ugly heads (even within Canada’s Harper-Conservative government).
Meanwhile, the working-class socialist labour movement languishes in a weakened state; many so-called “progressives” focus on sniping at each other over semantics (Read more…)
One of the greatest, yet underrated, bands in punk rock is returning to Canada for the first time in about a decade. Stage Bottles, from Frankfurt, Germany, will be playing in Toronto on Friday, April 18 and in Montreal on Saturday, April 19.
For those not familiar with Stage Bottles, they perform Oi!-influenced melodic punk with saxophone and, despite being German, they sing in English. Since their formation in 1993, they have been spreading a strong anti-fascist, pro-working class message without boring listeners with preachy, overly political lyrics. Many of their songs aren’t political at (Read more…)

Top: Killah_P Beneath: Suspect Giorgos Roupakias in custody and shrine at killing site
On September 17, Greek hip-hop artist Pavlos Fissas aka Killah P was stabbed to death in the Amfiali/Keratsini neighborhood of Piraeus (about 10 miles from downtown Athens). He was ambushed by neo-Nazis linked to the far-right Golden Dawn party. According to eye witnesses about 15 to 20 people were involved in the attack, some wearing military style gear.
Fissas reportedly identified his killer before he lost consciousness. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died. A trucker affiliated with the Golden Dawn, Giorgos (Read more…)
2 Tone ska legends The Selecter are touring North America, and according to the band’s official website, their only Canadian dates are as follows. Fans outside Ontario will either have to travel to these three cities or head to the United States.

This post is a bit late, but I figure if the politicians can take the whole summer off and still get paid, I can take a bit of a break from ranting about them for free.
This music video is “If You Tolerate This, Your Children Could Be Next” by the Welsh alt-rock band Manic Street Preachers. In mid-July 2013, the band and their record label spoke out – and threatened to take legal action – against the neo-fascist English Defence League (EDL) for using that song in an online ad promoting one of their anti-Muslim rallies. The racist mugs (Read more…)
In the Area: Legitime Violence:
The above link is an article about the Quebec-based fascist band Légitime Violence, who are one of the opening acts for the Condemned 84 gig scheduled for Burlington, Ontario on June 22, 2013.
Légitime Violence are actually more of a concern to Ontarians than the headline band — due to their closer proximity to the province, their alleged links to organized crime (drugs, guns, etc.) and their growing ties to right-wing thugs in southwestern Ontario.
It’s a funny thing; extreme Quebec nationalists (read separatist) with alleged links to criminal gangs teaming up with (Read more…)
Fascist-friendly concert planned for Toronto June 22, 2013:
This link was sent to me by a reliable source. At the moment, no venue for the concert has been announced. Instead of adding my own commentary, here are some highlights from the article.
A concert slated for Toronto, featuring Condemned 84 (England), supported by the likes of Légitime Violence (Quebec), threatens to flood the area with fascist lowlife and their passive supporters on the night of Saturday, June 22.
Clearly, Condemned 84 and bands in their orbit are interested in playing to the extreme right, as well as the apolitical (Read more…)
Doug Christie: The Unauthorized Obituary (article in The Tyee):
Tom Hawthorn of TheTyee reiterates what I wrote in my post about the recently croaked lawyer Doug Christie. Despite his pompous self-declarations, Christie was not a true advocate for free speech; he was merely an advocate for racism, anti-Semitism and other far right views. Christie, in fact, used the court system to try to silence critics, which is the exact opposite of promoting unfettered speech. What a hypocritical, lying piece of shit.
In the late 1990s, Christie represented clients who sued newspaper cartoonist Josh Beutel, the New Brunswick Teachers’

“Nazi Scum” by the Scottish anti-fascist punk band Oi Polloi
Standing outsides the primary school gates, with their leaflets stirring up race hate. Creeping round in the dead of night, setting innocent people’s houses alight. They stab and kill in radical attacks. Just how much more before you fight back? Find them – Grind them – Grind them!

Doug Christie – racist anti-Semitic lawyer, white nationalist activist and Western separatist wannabe politician from British Columbia – died on March 11, 2013 at the age of 66 from liver disease.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Historical revisionists – and others who may be well-intended but misguided — are (sieg) heiling the Nazi sympathizer as a underdog champion of free speech in Canada, but that empathy is misplaced.
Regardless of one’s stance on hate speech laws and censorship, one should never forget that Christie’s defence of free speech was extremely selective. He defended white supremacists, homophobes and Jew-haters not out

March 15 and 16, 2013 in Montreal: two nights of anti-fascist/anti-racist Oi!, punk rock, hardcore, and a little bit of ska and reggae.
It’s a party, not a political rally, but there’s no mystery where the bands and most of the attendees stand on the issues. It will be at Katakombes, which is at 1635 St Laurent blvd., Montreal, Quebec, H2X 2S9. I’m not involved in the event, just passing on the information. For more details, see the Facebook event page: http://www.facebook.com/events/301694463277261/

The Honourable Charlie Angus, New Democratic Party (NDP) Member of Parliament for Timmins-James Bay, recognizes the Mackenzie-Papineau Battalion’s contribution to the fight against fascism in the Spanish Civil War in the late 1930s.
The Mac-Paps volunteered to fight the fascist forces of Spain, Italy and Germany as part of the International Brigades, without any support from Canada’s government. The Liberal Party government of the time literally treated them like criminals instead of the heroes that they actually were.
If Canada and the other western democratic nations had put their full support behind the anti-fascists in Spain, perhaps the Holocaust and
As a follow-up to my “Harper hates me, Harper hates you, Harper hates all of us” column, here is the video for the song “Hate Us” by The Prowlers, an anti-fascist, anti-racist Oi! band from Montreal.
The song isn’t political, but it fits with the theme of my last post.
I downloaded this image from Facebook, so thanks to the person who created it. [This is a statement signed by almost one hundred anti-imperialists and organizations denouncing the Israeli-born jazz musician Gilad Atzmon for his antisemitism, and asking our fellow progressives to not promote him or his works. The list of endorsements included here is accurate as of March 9, 2012; an updated list will be maintained on the Three Way Fight blog: http://threewayfight.blogspot.com/p/atzmon-critique_09.html]
Attempting to latch onto the just, vital, and growing movement in support of the Palestinian national liberation struggle, Gilad Atzmon is one of a very small and unrepresentative group of writers who have argued (in agreement
